ABOUT RUTH
(THE 'BLONDE BIRD' BEHIND CANARY ACCOUNTING LIMITED)
My love for accounting started at University during my 3 year Business and Finance degree. In the summer of 2007, I graduated from university and began a training contract with a Northampton firm. They provided me with a vast amount of experience in all aspects of audit, accounting and taxation. Alongside my day to day client work they put me through my professional exams with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in December 2010. After qualifying, I started to think about what areas of accounting I enjoyed the best and that led me to focus more on owner managed businesses.
In April 2014, I began a new role with another accountancy firm in Northampton. The majority of their clients were owner managed businesses and their ethos aligned perfectly with what I wanted for my accountancy career. Within the space of a year I had been promoted to client manager and began looking after a portfolio of clients. I handled all of their day to day queries, prepared their year end accounts and tax and everything in between.
After 12 years working in accountancy practices I felt it was the time to take the leap and start working for myself so in January 2020 Canary Accounting Limited was born.
In my spare time you will usually find me with my husband and two boys. We love going for walks, playing board games and building Lego creations.
